Yoshi's future in doubt

In a dramatic turn around, Mandaric has today revealed that Pompey are willing to listen to offers for Kawaguchi - a few months after his £1.8million transfer from Japan. If he leaves it will be an incredibly brutal piece of business by Pompey who never really gave Yoshi a chance to live his dream - play football in England.

After being removed from the side a few weeks ago, Yoshi has barely been seen - not even featuring in reserve matches. Rix immediately brought in Beasant and has been happy with him - despite his record being as bad, if not worse than Kawaguchi's

Milan told The News: ‘Yoshi belongs to Portsmouth at the moment. He is a good goalkeeper. But unfortunately things have not gone as well as they might have done – and that is not necessarily Yoshi's fault.'

However there is no doubt that it was Milan who brought Yoshi to the club and he has never been a fans' favourite - providing an easy target for the teams slump in form. However Yoshi represents the sort of player that Pompey can attract if they put their mind and money to it. He wasn't cheap but he is in a different league to the chest beating, hoof the ball antics of Beasant.

A 'short sleeved goalkeeper' at Fratton Park is a miracle - let's appreciate his quality and help the club move forward on the pitch. If he leaves it could signal the end of our collective dream.
