Striker Signings Imminent

David Nugent and John Utaka are both expected to sign for Pompey this week in deals that would total 13 million pounds.

Nugent has agreed to join the club and will officially become a Pompey player tomorrow if he passes the formality of a medical. Preston accepted a bid of £6 million for the England striker seemingly ages ago now and the saga is finally coming to an end.

Pompey have also offered upped their offer for John Utaka to £7 million according to reports and it's a fee that Rennes are expected to accept with the Nigerian striker already keen on a move to Fratton Park.

Although Utaka is primarilly a striker, Harry apparently wants him as a winger because of his pace and trickery which would be an asset down the right side of the pitch. A deal for the striker could be wrapped up before our pre-season game with Yeovil on Saturday.

To wrap up, let's take a step back here. Should these deals go through as expected then that's £20 million spent on three players! Pompey spending at least £20 million in the summer... now who would have thought that two seasons ago?

And the mind-blowing thing is that we're probably not even finished yet!
