Rix keen to seal Crouch deal

Pompey have an advantage in trying to capture the 6ft 6ins 20-year-old as they can beat the wages on offer to him by the cash-strapped London club as well as the prospect of playing in a higher division.

Rangers would reluctantly cash in on Crouch, who signed from Spurs for just £60,000 last summer, with the player himself said to be keen to stay in the First Division.

QPR have already turned down a £1.5million bid for the player from Pompey, and were thought to be looking for another £500,000.

But The R's are currently in administration and with the financial situation at Loftus Road not getting better, they are believed to be ready to accept Pompey's original offer to take him to Fratton Park, providing there is a substantial sell-on clause in any agreement.
