Harry Redknapp was left fuming at match officials after the surprising home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

Victory over the Owls at Fratton Park on Saturday would have secured Promotion to the top-flight but the referees decisions forced Pompey fans into putting the Champagne on ice for a few more days yet.

"The referee made a big mistake at the end of the game, it was farcical," Redknapp said after the 2-1 defeat.

"He made Gianluca Festa move the free-kick back but didn't make the Wednesday player move back the full ten yards and everyone in the ground knew he was wrong to let the free-kick go ahead.

"I have spoken to the official and he doesn't see what he did wrong but it was a scandalous decision and made the whole game an absolute farce."
