Steve McClaren has finally swallowed his pride and has selected David James and Sol Campbell for the England squad to face Germany at Wembley next Wednesday.

Both Sol and Jamo were delighted to be recalled to the side.

James said: "I've been happy with my form. And if I was happy there was no way I was going to retire from international football. It's the next step on the ladder for me. I'm delighted to be in the squad and now will try and get into the team."

Campbell added: "I never let my head go down when I came out of the England squad. Situations change and opportunities come along - and one has now."

Campbell and James become the first active England internationals in Pompey's squad since Mark Hateley in 1984.

Here's hoping that Campbell gets over his injury and gets to play in front of James in the England goal come Wednesday.
