After a dour first half in which only Patrick Berger created a decent chance, Pars striker Barry Nicholson scored almost immediately upon the commencement of the second half.

After a good save by Wapennar less than a few minutes later, the Blues brought on the heavy artiliary with Yakubu and Pericard coming on the pitch on the hour, but Derek Stillie was on top form in the Pars goal and stopped many chances, the best of which fell to the head of Teddy Sheringham.

Forgotten man Deon Burton almost made a name for himself by placing the ball in the back of the net, but it was disallowed and a goal kick given after Yakubu's cross was judged to have gone out of play.

Team: Wapenaar: Zikovic (Pericard 60), Stefanovic, Primus, de Zeeuw, O'Neil (Robinson 60), Quashie, Stone, Berger, Sheringham (C) (Burton 81), Todorov (Yakubu 60)
