Portsmouth V Cambridge Utd at Fratton Park : Match Preview

20 April 2017

Portsmouth boss Paul Cook could ring the changes against Cambridge

Portsmouth can be full of confidence when they welcome Cambridge to Fratton Park after winning promotion to Sky Bet League One on Easter Monday.

Matt Clarke and Danny Rose missed the decisive 3-1 win over Notts County and are doubtful for the tie on Saturday.

Pompey boss Paul Cook may switch things up given that promotion has already been secured with three games to spare.

Conor Chaplin's header gave Portsmouth a 1-0 victory over the U's last time out, despite having Amine Linganzi sent off with half an hour left.

Scott Wharton is pushing for a recall as Cambridge target a late assault on the play-off places.

Defender Wharton was an unused substitute for the second game in a row when the U's beat Exeter to climb to within a point of seventh, and he could come in alongside match-winner Leon Legge.

James Dunne made his return from injury with a second-half appearance off the bench against the Grecians, yet despite previously being a regular fixture he might struggle to dislodge the fit-again Piero Mingoia following the Enfield-born midfielder's fine showing in the 1-0 win on Easter Monday.

Striker Barry Corr is a long-term absentee while on-loan Nottingham Forest forward Gerry McDonagh is itching to return to the matchday squad having not appeared since March.
