YOSHI FACES HEARTBREAK AT POMPEY

Football's a funny old game and when your luck is out, your luck really is out. It is the irony of life that says nice guys always get hurt and it seems that has happened with the shocking news that Yoshi Kawaguchi could of missed his chance to play again for Pompey - as well as his starring role for Japan in his home nation.

A few weeks ago, Fratton Faithful exclusively revealed that Yoshi had been involved in a training ground brawl with Nigel Quashie and Courtney Pitt - it seems to have happened again, in a 'freak training ground' incident which involved Kawaguchi damaging his knee.

After pulling out of the squad on Sunday, Kawaguchi traveled to London to see a specialist regarding his knee. It is not known yet how serious the injury is - but Pompey and Japanese officials are highly concerned about his future behind the sticks for the World Cup. It would be a tragic end to a nightmare season for the affable player.

With his season, seemingly ruled out, it seems that he also could be out of Pompey. Redknapp had intended to play the keeper in goal for the last few games of the season, but with Yoshi out, it is likely he will concentrate on selling Pompey's record signing and bringing Illic from Charlton.
