Yakubu on the move?

It's fair to say that all Pompey fans know sooner or later Yakubu will be leaving the club. He scored 19 goals last season, he's scored 6 so far this - not bad for a 21 year old.

According to the ever reliable British media, Chelsea are weighing up a £10m offer for the Nigerian striker. With the recent departure of Adrian Mutu, Blues boss Jose Mourinho is allegedly in the hunt for another forward.

Whilst we can hardly hold it against the Yak for wanting a move to a club who can promise Champions League football - he's already played at that level for Maccabi, so there's no doubt he'd want to play there again - I still feel we can do slightly better than £10m. After all, if Chelsea are prepared to pay £24m for Drogba, a man who had one good season in France and was unproven in the Premiership, £10m for a striker with a good record in the top league is nothing short of derisory. Hell, we could even be sneaky and try and get Smertin involved in the deal if need-be.

Hopefully it's all just as rubbish as the "Yak to Boro" reports, but it also confirms the worst fears of every Pompey fan - the possibility of our talented team being ripped about by the big boys, on the look out for some talent on the cheap. But having said that - could a club of our size realistically turn down a £10m for ONE player?
