A strong Portsmouth side, which included new signing Andy Griffin in the starting line-up and new keeper Jamie Ashdown as a second half substitute eased to a two goal win at Adams Park.

Amdy Faye, a target for Fulham but seemingly stayiong put at Fratton Park, was a notable omission from the side, but young striker Rowan Vine played the full ninty minutes in a comfortable win over newly-relegated Wycombe.

Ayegbini Yakubu (23) and Kevin Harper (83) sealed the win, as only poor finishing prevented Portsmouth from winning by a greater margin.

Long term injury victim Eddie Howe continued his rehabilitation with a second half apperance as Portsmouth look forward to the ever-tricky second year in the Premiership.
