Window Shuts

That's it. The clocks have chimed and we've now entered February. We're now stuck with what we've got for the rest of the season. Will it be enough to reach Europe? We shall find out come May.

So here's the list of our total January ins and outs:

Ins

Arnold Mvuemba (Rennes) - Loan
Djimi Traore (Charlton) - £1,000,000
Lauren (Arsenal) - £500,000

Outs

Manuel Fernandes (Everton) - Benfica Loan Return
Dean Kiely (West Brom) - Undisclosed
Andy Griffin (Stoke) - Loan
Richard Duffy (Swansea) - Loan
Marc Wilson (Bournemouth) - Loan
David Thompson (Bolton) - Nominal

So we've gained two first team players for £1,500,000. That's a good bit of business there from Harry considering their quality. We have also gained a loanee who sounds promising but we'll have no idea what he is like until he plays.

We have lost a total of six players. I'm disappointed that we couldn't try and extend the loan of Manuel Fernandes because he was quality during his time here and now Everton will reap the benefits of his services for the rest of the season. I'm also a bit disappointed to lose David Thompson too as I thought he was a handy player to have in the squad, but it seems that Thommo got a bit homesick.

Deano went to the Baggies yesterday and I'll take the opportunity now to thank him for his excellent contribution to our Premiership survival last season and wish him the best during his time at The Hawthorns.

I doubt anyone will miss Duffy and Griffin as there was no way they were getting into the side ahead of Johnson, Lauren and Pamarot and I doubt some Pompey fans will even know who Marc Wilson is let alone miss him.

On a final note it's good to see that Andy Cole has not joined Everton or West Ham and that Kanu is sticking with us and not going to Holland. Andy O'Brien turned down a move to Manchester City whilst Toddy also remains at the club to my surprise.

That's our lot then. Not quite the flurry of activity we had last season but time will tell whether this January will be as successful as the last.
