Vallecano Lined Up For Friendly

Spanish La Liga side Real Vallecano are set to be Pompey's "big" pre-season fixture before the League Two season begins.

The Madrid based club are pencilled in to visit Fratton Park on Sunday, July 28th after club officials attempted to bring a London based Premier League team to the south coast, only to be told that they would be likely to send a development team down rather than a strong one.

Vallecano finished 8th in La Liga last season which is their best ever finish in their existance. As you might expect, the club struggles to attract support having to compete with Real and Athletico Madrid who are close by in the Spanish capital, Vallecano have no major honours to their name.

They are also banned from European competition because of disputes with creditors and would have qualifed for the Europa League otherwise. Pompeys only link with the club is that former loanee Leo Biagini played for them after a short spell in England.

Once the fixture is confirmed Pompey's pre-season set up will be complete. Here is the full list of pre-season fixtures:
