Transfer Twaddle

It's silly season again and already the transfer rumours are doing the rounds. Here's the best of them:

Promising Trinidad & Tobago youngsters Lester Peltier, Khaleem Hyland and Atullah Guerra are reportedly on their way to Pompey from San Juan Jabloteh having agreed 4 year deals according to their agents. Not much is known about the players other than they're all midfielders, Hyland has already featured for the national team and Peltier is built like a tank.

The players have supposedly chosen to come to Portsmouth ahead of the likes of Ajax for the chance to work with Paul Hart as he looks to make his mark on the youth academy.

Titus Bramble was today released by new Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce and has already been linked with a move to Pompey. As if signing Djimi Traore was bad enough, signing Titus "Shamble" would take bad signings to a whole new level due to his uncanny ability to make vital mistakes added to a natural lack of concentration. However, if (and it's a very big if) Tony Adams can coach him to get rid of those mistakes then he does have the raw attributes to be a very good defender. The Toon are reportedly targeting Sol Campbell to replace Bramble, but 'Arry says he's going nowhere.

Sylvain Distin is also out of contract at Manchester City and looks almost certain to leave them. He would be one of the best free transfers this summer for whoever gets hold of him.

On the striking front, there are strong rumours that Mark Viduka could be moving to Pompey as he apparently reluctant to sign a new deal with Middlesbrough. His strike partner Yakubu is also rumoured to be wanting out having been left on the bench during the last few games of the season. However, it's unlikely that the latter rumour has any substance behind it, like many rumours that we'll hear during the summer.

In other news, Kanu is reportedly close to signing for Pompey for another two years which is good news and there's also talk of a move being made for Jermain Defoe, if Spurs are willing to let him go.

Finally, a big "Congratulations!" to Derby County for winning their play-off semi-final last night. Poor old Leon Best, he scores an own goal then misses a great opportunity to win the tie late in extra time and to cap it all off, he misses a penalty in the shootout!

We all feel sorry for him don't we? *Snigger*
