Transfer Talk Round-Up

That's right boys and girls! Despite being well over two months away from the January transfer window there's already talk of players either coming to, or moving from Pompey come the new year! Fratton Faithful is here to give you the details.

Does the name Andres Pierre Gignac mean anything to you? Probably not and I'll admit I didn't know who he was either. Gignac is a 21-year-old attacking midfielder who currently plays for newly promoted Ligue Une side Lorient and has scored three goals for the club this season. According to his agent Pompey have been inquiring about Andres and a move in January could be possible although Marseille are also said to be after him.

Pompey have also been linked with the Macedonian defender Nikolce Noveski who had a great game against England last Saturday as his side earnt a well deserved 0-0 draw and he also scored midweek against Andorra. The imposing 27-year-old currently plays in Germany for Mainz but their manager admitted to the press that he would find it hard to keep hold of such an important player because other clubs are interested with Pompey reportedly being one of them.

Manuel Fernandes has constantly been linked to Manchester United in the papers after he played a big part in knocking them out of the Champions League last season. Peter Storrie has assured Pompey fans that we have first refusal on Fernandes and that we will sign him in January once he proves his fitness and gets a few games under his belt. How much is Peter Storrie's assurance worth these days though?

One player rumoured to be leaving Pompey is someone who actually signed in the summer. Kanu has been linked to join South African side Mamelodi Sundowns but Harry Redknapp has rubbished these reports and has said that the Nigerian has impressed him so much, he's hoping to extend his current single year deal by another season. That statement, along with Kanu previously saying how much he's loving life at Pompey would suggest that the South African link is your usual tabloid trash.

So will we see Gignac and Noveski in a Pompey shirt? Will Manuel Fernandes sign permanently? I guess we'll find out in January.
