Toddy Leaving For Good?

According to The Quay Svetoslav Todorov has shunned the one-year contract offered to him by Pompey as he searches for a new challenge.

The 28-year-old Bulgarian is apparently looking for pastures new after enduring a frustrating time at the club due to injury after having played a massive part in our Championship winning season and establishing himself as a firm fan favourite at Fratton Park.

The news has only been reported by The Quay so there's no guarantee that he will leave but it looks likely that he will do. You can bet that Leicester will be favourites to snap him up under Milan Mandaric's ownership too.

If this news does turn out to be true, then it's 99% certain that we will be left with only Benjani and Lomana LuaLua as the only two recognised strikers at the club with Kanu and Andrew Cole set to leave.

Toddy's decision will only put more pressure on Harry Redknapp to bring quality strikers to Pompey and three of the targets I outlined in my striker search column won't be signing for us, as Kanoute has pledged his future to Sevilla, Earnshaw has joined Derby and Cisse is likely to stay at Marseille.

Two of the other players could be coming to Pompey though, with Marlon Harewood linked to a £3 million move and with Tottenham signing Darren Bent, surely Jermain Defoe will not settle for being 4th choice striker? Like most other Pompey fans I would hope the club do everything in their power to try and bring Defoe to Fratton Park.

Whatever happens, I still trust Harry to find us a decent striker or two before the summer transfer window shuts and there's plenty of time yet to sign players, so no need for panic!
