The Opposition View: Oxford United

Last updated : 23 March 2018 By Jim Bonner

What's your assessment of Oxford's season and how disappointed are you with it?

I predicted 10th-16th and we are 16th! I was never convinced the balance of our squad was right. It's not been fun though, I would definitely put us in the relegation battle.

Did Pep Clotet deserve the sack and what do you think of Karl Robinson as his replacement?

Yes. We went backwards and he didn't know how to improve things.

We were promised a 'wow' appointment by the new chairman and I don't think he meant Robinson. I think he might keep us in League One and I'm fully behind him, but I don't see us punching above our weight any time soon.

Who have been the key players for Oxford this season?

Jack Payne had lots of assists before he left in January. Other than that, I'm struggling.

What are the strengths and weaknesses of your team?

We concede stupid goals, especially from set pieces. We don't do much well, but Ledson and Brannagan showed some fight in midfield last weekend. A couple of our young defenders looked solid, too.

What kind of match can we expect at Fratton Park in front of the Sky cameras?

Hopefully we will roll our sleeves up and put in another hard-fought display. Or we will just lose.

Predict the outcome of the match.

2-1 to Portsmouth.
