The Opposition View: Northampton Town

Last updated : 28 December 2013 By Jim Bonner

Northampton finished in the play-offs last season and yet now find themselves bottom of the league. What has gone wrong?

We overachieved last season based on a freakish home record. This season we have been found out and are paying the price. We are struggling to score goals and we are devoid of any plans to create scoring chances.

Did Aidy Boothroyd deserve the sack and who would you like to replace him?

Definitely, the football was dire. I'd love to see us take a punt on Chris Hargreaves, ex player and seems hungry for a shot at management. He could probably do with an experienced man along side him to start with though.

Izale McLeod played for Pompey last season but was unpopular despite his goalscoring record. What do Teyn fans think of him?

Hard to tell as he doesn't look 100% fit yet. It doesn't help him being played left wing in our last game. He's injured now so doubtful for tomorrow.

Who have been the standout performers for the Cobblers so far this season?

Matt Duke, Matt Duke and Matt Duke.

What are the biggest weaknesses in your team that Pompey could exploit on Sunday?

Score a goal and you will win. We can't score goals, especially away from Sixfields.

How confident are you of getting a result at Fratton Park now that Pompey's winless run is over?

Not very, a draw is conceivable but I can't see any more than that.

What kind of football do Northampton play and how will that contribute to the match?

Bring your sunglasses and a neck brace as you'll be staring into the sky a lot.

Predict the outcome of the game.

Heart says we might sneak a 1-0 win, head says we will lose 2-0.
