The Opposition View: Coventry City

Last updated : 02 December 2011 By Jim Bonner

Pompey are currently having a hard time with ownership problems currently. How are the off-field issues with Coventry at this moment in time?

It's all a bit up in the air at the moment because nobody is overly sure what is going on with regard to the finances at. I believe we'll be funded till the end of the season but after that, who knows?

Hopefully a take over can be sorted and we'll finally lose our current owners. We certainly are cutting spending, which has been evident with the lack of players brought in this season.

Moving on to on-field troubles, just what has gone wrong with the Sky Blues this season?

We can't defend, that's it simply. Last season we had Turner (not at Cardiff) and even when we did have him we had Wood etc stepping up and filling the gap but this hasn't happened this season.

There is a lack of organisation throughout the whole defence and we won't pick up points until this stops. Our strikers haven't been too bad this season but midfield has been very poor with them posing little attacking threat.

Do you think Andy Thorn can get you out of the mess you are in or would you like to see a new manager at the helm?

In a word; no. But I don't think anyone else could. We've sacked manager after manager and I don't see a point in changing. We're almost certain to go down so I see no point in changing a manager because without funds we'll be down.

Cov may be struggling but there surely are one or two star men in your team?

Jutkiewicz up front is our main threat but Southampton and Boro are on the lookout for him though. He gets pretty much all of our goals so if he goes we'll be in big trouble.

Gael Bigirimana has been the other star of the season, just came through the academy and has done a great job so far.

What are the biggest weaknesses in this Sky Blues outfit?

As mentioned earlier probably the defence. Just a sheer lack of organisation.

Would you take a draw at Fratton Park or are the circumstances that bad that you simply must win to have any real hope of avoiding the drop?

There is still a long way to go so a draw will do but we have a decent record at Pompey in recent years so I think we can push for the three points. But a draw would be a very good result for us.

Predict the outcome of the game.
