The media #252156

The transfer window closed, so I thought we'd be safe. The derby cup tie came and went, so I thought we'd be safe. Yes, at long last. The media would finally run out of things to write about and would have to give up trying to stir things up at the club because, as we've all noticed lately, nothing is happening. What with not having a game for two weeks - and no home matches for five - things have dried up around the club. No quotes, no bickering, no player movement.

Or so I thought.

Oh, but you can always rely on that bastion of truth - The Sun - to come up with something. I can just see them sitting there in their office now. "Lads, we haven't done anything about Portsmouth in a while", says one to the other. His journo mates stop scratching their arses for the first time in a while and try to work out some sort of story they can make out of it. No doubt one of them thought "Couldn't we say Yakubu is moving to Birmingham?" before realising one of his cretinous brethren had already come up with that piece of comedy gold, so it was back to the drawing board.

Zajec has said he's going to stand down... new manager... old manager leaving... one or two players and ex-players aren't happy... got it!

"Player power kicked Velimir Zajec out of his job as Portsmouth boss. Chairman Milan Mandaric announced last week that the Croat would stand down at the end of the season and revert to his original role as director of football in May. It has now been revealed that Mandaric reluctantly agreed to the switch after senior players told him Zajec was unpopular."

The writer of this - YES DAVE KIDD, I'M TALKING TO YOU - must be even more stupid than most of his co-workers. "Milan Mandaric announced last week"? Funny how there's no actual quotes from Milan to, you know, back that statement up. What's more I'm pretty sure Zajec said a week after he was appointed that he had already started looking for his successor and wasn't interested in the job after the summer - it wasn't what he was brought in for. Oh, but silly me. Dave Kidd knows best, everyone! Because after all, look at some of the other stuff he came up with:

1) "Players admit dressing-room morale plunged during Zajec’s reign" - er, so why not prove it? If it's true, where are the damaging quotes from the players you - I presume - got the information from
2) "Keepers Shaka Hislop and Jamie Ashdown have both demanded moves" - when was that then? Once again, prove it or shut up
3) "Mandaric is determined to bring in a young British coach, with Brentford’s Martin Allen one of the leading contenders" - yes, the same Martin Allen that Milan said he wasn't interested in and let's not forget that Allen himself said he wouldn't come and work at Fratton after his playing days here were ended when he was sacked for gross misconduct

Journalist? Who is he trying to Kidd.
