The Final Speculation

Last updated : 30 August 2007 By Jim Bonner
The transfer window slams shut at midnight tomorrow. Here are the latest tidbits:

Dejan Stefanovic is 99% certain to join Fulham now with a £1 million fee being touted for the 33-year-old Serbian defender who hasn't made an appearance for Pompey this season.

Chelea's Lassana Diarra could be a player to come into the club after he watched Pompey beat Leeds in the director's box of Fratton Park on Tuesday. Diarra doesn't see much first-team action in Jose Mourinho's side and with Harry looking for a defensive midfielder; it looks like he might have found one in the 22-year-old French international.

Harry's main priority is a "big name" striker but any hopes he had of signing Nicolas Anelka have been dashed as the Frenchman has signed a new four year deal with Bolton. Rafael Benitez has also stated that Peter Crouch won't be going anywhere tomorrow after alleged interest from Pompey.

So now Redknapp will turn his attentions to Jermain Defoe, but apparently he will only join one of the "big four" clubs, which may mean Harry gets desperate and offers Matthew Taylor to Spurs as a makeweight, despite his prior claims that he wouldn't.

Other names to be linked to Pompey are Preston full back Matt Hill, Barcelona striker Eidur Gudjohnsen, CSKA Moscow central midfielder Dudu Cearense and a recently released Charlton midfielder who scored his only goal ever in English football against us in January, that's right, Harry is reportedly back in for Amdy Faye.

Aston Villa have been linked with a shock move for Pedro Mendes whilst rumours still persist that Sean Davis will be leaving the club in a swap deal for Papa Bouba Diop.

Expect a frantic day of ins and outs tomorrow, so catch up with all the transfer moves before the window shuts on Fratton Faithful tomorrow!
