Taylor/Richards linked with swop deal

Taylor was a target for Tottenham, then under the management of Glenn Hoddle, when Taylor played for Second Division Luton Town. However, Spurs are now on the lookout for another left-back following the departure of Christian Ziege, and Taylor has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane.

The real concern is that Tottenham's former Southampton player Dean Richards is reportedly being lined up to move the other way in a part-exchange deal.

Richards impressed as a centre-half for Wolves and Southampton, but failed to find his feet in North London after following Hoddle from Southampton to Tottenham.

If Richards was to move to Fratton Park, it would prove interesting to see how fans react to the defender - Southampton fans have already been very vocal in expressing their displeasure at the signing of former Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch from Aston Villa earlier this week.
