With the transfer window due to open on New Year's Day, Chelsea, Arsenal, Middlesbrough and Tottenham have all been reported to be interested in the 20-year-old.

"Harry Redknapp doesn't want to sell Matt," said a spokesman for the club.

"The club is looking to get in the Premiership and selling your best players is not going to help achieve that."
