Taylor Leaves For Bolton

Last updated : 17 January 2008 By Jim Bonner
It's official - Matthew Taylor has ended his long stint at Pompey to join Bolton Wanderers.

The fee is reported to be £3.5 million and Gary Megson has comfirmed that Taylor is now a Trotter and is delighted to have secured the signature of a quality player.

Matt has signed for three-and-a-half years and will finally be able to play regular football again after seeing his first team opportunities limited at Pompey where he only scored one goal this season, ironically that was a penalty against Bolton.

I'm personally gutted that he has gone, especially to Bolton when I feel there were better clubs in the race for him. We still have to go to the Reebok this season and I bet he'll score against us now...

The majority of Pompey fans won't blame Matt, a firm Fratton favourite, for leaving and I will bid a fond farewell to Taylor and remember his commitment and his wondergoals that contributed to Pompey's rise in English football.

Harry said that he wouldn't let Taylor leave until he got more players in, so perhaps we can expect another player to sign for us today? Jonas Gutierrez could be that player after more reports in Spain have linked us with the Mallorca winger.

Fratton Faithful wishes Matty all the best at Bolton.
