Super Scout

If you can remember back as far as November, you'll recall that one of the main reasons that Velimir Zajec was originally brought in was to try and improve our scouting system.

Despite the obvious sidetrack of, er, the club falling apart and him becoming manager on a permanent basis, he's still finally started to get to grips with things and it's somewhat unsurprising that one of his first appointments is in Croatia.

Marijan Vlak is currently the Director of Football at Croatian club, Kamen Ingrad. Honestly, I'm not making these names up. Apparently Vlak and Zajec are close friends - Marijan playing as a goalkeeper with Velimir part of his defence, back in days of yore - and Vlak's job will be to monitor players in the Croatian leagues, as well as keeping an eye on other Eastern European leagues to see if he can find the future Prosinecki or Suker. And then, obviously, fly him to us to sign an excrutiatingly binding contract so that he can't escape until he has;

a) scored a hat trick including a 25 yard free kick
b) stormed down the tunnel after being substituted on a Tuesday in Bolton
c) tried on average thirty cross field passes per match, á la Quashie

We wait to see what gems of the future are discovered. If any.
