Sulley Set For Inter

Sulley Muntari is set to sign for Inter Milan at the end of the week in a deal believed to be worth over £12 million.

Reports are claiming that Pompey have agreed a fee with the Italian champions for the Ghanaian international who will sign a four year deal for Jose Mourinho's side.

The 23-year-old recently stated that he was looking forward to the upcoming season with Pompey but it seems that the opportunity to join one of the biggest clubs in Europe and playing for one of the best managers in the world is too big to turn down.

There is also the fact that the money can be used to fund a swoop for Shaun Wright-Phillips and maybe another player too. Harry has said he isn't for sale but deep down I think he knows that we could cope with losing Muntari and strengthen in the areas that we really need to.

The bottom line is that Muntari was inconsistent throughout the season and we didn't see too many glimpses of his quality. Villa away sticks out as his outstanding performance of last season but he did give away the ball on too many occasions. And although his presence in midfield will be missed, he gave away too many free kicks and saw too many cards.

That said, the likes of Mendes and Davis aren't going to be able to replace him for his strength and overall ability on the ball so maybe we'd need to bring in another central midfielder to compensate for this loss.

I'm a little bit disappointed that we probably won't be able to see how great Sulley really could have become if he settled on the South Coast but I trust Harry knows what he is doing.

Udinese are set to receive a slice of the transfer fee we get for Muntari due to his reported sell-on clause in his contract.

If Sulley left, the last thing we would want to do is to lose another one of our central midfielders and I'm not liking the reports of Pedro Mendes talking to Rangers with a view to a possible move.

I thought Pedro would stay after earning his spot in the Cup Final and hopefully Harry can convince him to stay and/or the reports turn out to be rubbish. It would be suicide to let Muntari and Mendes leave unless Redknapp can pull a couple of rabbits out of the hat.

There could be more bad news on the transfer horizon as Younes Kaboul is set to complete his move to Sunderland tomorrow (or is that a lucky escape?).

It seems like the transfer market has well and truly heated up now, that's "for sure"!
