Storrieteller

In the past couple of days Peter Storrie has told the local news that he is "hopeful" that someone will buy Portsmouth FC before the start of the new season.

Storrie revealed that he has travelled around the world and has spoken to a couple of interested parties with regards to buying the club from Sacha Gaydamak who will not force his reported £40 million debts to be repaid the club as the debt is solely his.

Pompey's executive chairman did warn that if a buyer isn't found soon then Pompey would be forced to sell at least one of their star "assets" which would mean saying goodbye to the likes of Niko Kranjcar, Peter Crouch and Glen Johnson.

I feel if we lost our best defender, best midfielder and best striker and didn't have the money to replace them then we'd almost be dead certs for relegation next season. So it's imperative that we find a buyer sooner rather than later.

Storrie also said that Paul Hart and Brian Kidd have done a fantastic job and hinted that they could have a permanent role as Pompey manager and assitant. He dropped a hint to the press suggesting they'd be given the job by saying that they would change Pompey's dour style of football to a more entertaining brand - if they were given the job.

Many Pompey fans have said they don't want Hart to be in charge next season but it may look like our only option. It may not be the worst choice in the world either, given that he'll start with a clean slate and may coach the players to play more attractive football next season.

I certainly don't want to be served the dour football we've seen at Fratton Park this season for the 09/10 campaign, not at approximately £30 a home game. Given our awful away record this year I can't see our travelling numbers being too great next season either.

Hopefully Storrie can do something to restore our waning faith in him because not many Pompey fans trust him to do the job he is supposed to be doing. I think that may be a bit harsh because he is trying to sell a club that doesn't have as much going for it as some other clubs but I just pray that he can pull it off.

In other news a 42-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy have been found guilty of homophobic abuse at Sol Campbell during the match at home with Spurs earlier this season. Both have been banned from attending football matches for three years.
