Sheringham offered coaching role

Manager Harry Redknapp is keen to land the striker who is soon to be out of contract at Spurs, and with the offer of a coaching role thrown into the deal, Sheringham may be persuaded to join Pompey.

"I like Teddy Sheringham, he's a proper player and I think he could do a terrific job for us next season," said the Pompey boss.

"He has still got a lot to offer both on and off the field even at 37 and I would be only too pleased to listen to what he has to say if we could get him on board."
