Fratton Faithful is first with the news again to reveal that Mladen Rudonja will finally be leaving the club to a French or Belgium team.
Pompey outcast Mladen Rudonja, who last month scored the goal that clinched Slovenia's qualification for the 2002 World Cup finals, is leaving Pompey for a club in France or Belgium. The former St Truidense midfielder has revealed that he was given permission by Milan Mandaric to travel to Europe this week in order to finalise details on his transfer away from Fratton Park.
"I'll return to England in Monday," he said. "The Chairman of Portsmouth let me go to Slovenia for a couple of days after I spent most of the week in Belgium and France. The reason I went there was for transfer talks.
"I cannot say anything about the names of the interested clubs but they're both top flight teams with a good history. They haven't been that successful this season so they're looking for reinforcements."
He added: "Both clubs offered me the same terms but I think the French could pay a lot more if they really want to have me. Otherwise, I'll go to Belgium, where I have arranged all the details already.
"The trouble for the time being is that Portsmouth would like to see me transferring to a French club as they would get more money out of it. We'll see how it turns out."
More to follow this week.
