Ritchie Hat-Trick Sinks Gosport

A youthful Pompey side finished pre-season with a comfortable win over Gosport Borough as Matt Ritchie netted a hat-trick at Privett Park.

The Pompey side was mainly made up of youth and reserve players although Jamie Ashdown, Lauren, Arnold Mvuemba, John Utaka and Ben Sahar all played. A trialist named "Jorgi" also took part.

Sahar had a penalty saved in the first half but local lad Matt Ritchie opened the scoring on the 44th minute only for Nathan Lynch to equalise for Gosport right before half time.

Sahar did find the net not long after the break and then Ritchie added two in six minutes to complete his hat-trick.

With such an impressive performance you may think that Ritchie will be wanted by a lower league club. The first team will be looking forward to Sunday as that is when the season really begins.
