Redknapp fumes over red card

De Zeeuw brought down Southampton's James Beattie in the box towards the end of the match, which lead to a penalty and a red card for the defender.

Redknapp said afterwards: "James Beattie was the difference between the two teams but if you're running alongside someone and they cut across you, you don't bring them down on purpose.

"They clip you as they come across you, there's nothing he could have done about it, he didn't stick his leg out and trip him.

"It was a penalty but to send him off was scandalous. He's the most honest defender, he's probably been my best player this season. I know rules are rules but I don't know if Graham Poll has ever been in that situation as a defender.

"It was good forward play from Beattie but, as a defender, there's nothing you can do."
