Primed For Pompey

Linvoy Primus has been given a one year deal with Pompey despite being injured all of this season.

The 34-year-old hasn't played a single game for Pompey this season after an outstanding 2006/2007 campaign and based on that, the club have rewarded him with a new deal despite his current one claiming that he had to make 20 appearances this season.

With Linvoy turning 35 in September I did wonder if he would ever play for Pompey again and I still wonder if he'll be able to force his way back into the first team having been out so long and with Campbell and Distin playing well, but it's great to know that the fan favourite will stick around for another year yet.

Speaking of Sylvain Distin, he picked up the Pompey Player of the Year award at the players' end-of-season dinner.

Whilst Fratton Faithful readers will know that the Fratton Faithful Player of the Year award is the most prestigious honour that any Pompey player can earn, the players' award is still something to be proud of and this underlines just how brilliant he's been this season.

Harry Redknapp was also declared as the best Pompey manager in history whilst an all-time best Pompey XI was also voted for by the fans and this was the result:

GK: David JAMES

RB: Glen JOHNSON
CB: Sol CAMPBELL
CB: Jimmy DICKINSON
LB: John BERESFORD

RM: Peter HARRIS
CM: Paul MERSON
CM: Robert PROSINECKI
LM: Jack FROGGATT

CF: Guy WHITTINGHAM
CF: Duggie REID

Noe Pamarot scooped the award for Pompey Goal of the Season thanks to his thunderbolt at St. James' Park and the Frenchman could be fit for the FA Cup Final and hopes to play against Fulham on Saturday.
