Portsmouth stun Liverpool

In the days leading up to the match, Fratton Faithful has seen a barrage of emails and comments from Liverpool fans claiming that Liverpool would 'demolish' their smaller opposition. We weren't so sure. And sure enough, Portsmouth continued their run of form against the boys from Anfield, with Shaka Hislop again on top form to shut out Liverpool. His big moment came after Referee Messias awarded a controversial penalty in the 62nd minute. There seemed to be nothing wrong with Matt Taylor's tackle on Milan Baros, but justice was done when Owen's weak shot was saved.

Liverpool were to regret this miss. On 72 minutes, Berkovic stole the ball off Sami Hyppia, played a one-two with Kevin Harper before crossing into the box, where he found Yakubu. The Yak intelligently played the ball across to substitute Richard Hughes, who fired home past Kirkland from 14 yards to send the Fratton crowd into delirium. A home tie against Arsenal in the next round isn't exactly going to be easy, but after this result, why not?
