Pompey Win Trust Friendly

A young Pompey side defeated Hermann Hreidarsson's IBV tonight in the friendly at Fratton Park.

6,780 attended the game and saw Pompey take the lead through Bradley Tarbuck after Ashley Harris laid the ball off for him.

Hreidarsson made his entrance just after the hour mark, slotting into midfield for the team he manages but Pompey doubled their lead thanks to Liam Walker's curling effort into the top corner.

With just ten minutes to go, Pompey old boys Mark Kelly, Linvoy Primus, Svetoslav Todorov and Guy Whittingham came on for their cameos. David James never played and neither did Darren Anderton despite being touted to make an appearance. The former stayed on the bench and the latter was ironically injured!

Hermann swapped sides for the last minutes of the game but IBV had the last word after Kjartan Gudjonsson flicked the ball past Phil Smith in stoppage time.

In other news, Pompey's mathematical relegation to League Two was confirmed after Oldham's 1-0 win over Yeovil tonight. It will now be up to the Football League to decide whether to deduct the ten points this season despite the relegation or let the punishment be carried over to next season.
