Pompey transfer embargo lifted

The ban was placed on the club after former Portsmouth manager Tony Pulis signed striker Lee Mills from Bradford for a then club record £1.2million last August and the final payment for the transfer, due today, did not arrive.

The League banned the south coast club earlier today from making any transfers until the money owed to Bradford was paid. The payment has now been made and the ban has subsequently been lifted.

New director of football Harry Redknapp and Pompey manager Graham Rix had completed moves for four players only last week, including the club record £1.25million signing of Queens Park Rangers striker Peter Crouch.
