Pompey Make Little Signing

Harry Redknapp has made his first signing of the summer by brining Glen Little to Fratton Park from relegated Reading.

The 32-year-old winger has signed a one year deal with Pompey after an achilles injury kept him out for most of last season and was one of the reasons why Reading ended up relegated.

I see this signing has come for stick already as Pompey fans say it's "unambitious" and "not worthy of a club playing in Europe". To those people, I make the following points:

a) Glen Little is actually a good player. He's tricky and can deliver a good cross, whatsmore he will actually track back and get stuck in if needed.

b) He's probably cheap, therefore we've picked up a good player for next to nothing and his signing will bolster the squad. We'll be needing him in the Carling Cup/FA Cup games against lesser opposition.

c) He will give competition to John Utaka for the right wing position. No longer can Utaka slack and still get a place in the team and whatsmore, if he's injured we won't have to resort to Diop on the right anymore!

I think this is a shrewd bit of business by Harry Redknapp and a welcome addition to the squad.
