Pompey Loan Fulham Defender

Andy Awford's latest attempt to cure Pompey's right back problem is to sign Fulham defender Josh Passley on a one-month youth loan.

The "youth loan" term doesn't really mean anything as Passley will be expected to go straight into the team for the match at Wycombe on Saturday. The 20-year-old can also play at centre back but will almost certainly feature at full back for Pompey.

Josh has been on loan at Shrewsbury this season and they rated him fairly highly as the Shrews kept five clean sheets in seven games whilst he has been described as "athletic and lively" by the Pompey coaching staff. However, Alex Wynter was described in a similar way and look how poor he turned out to be.

Hopefully he can be the player to make the right back position his own where Adam Webster, Joe Devera, Matt Fish and Alex Wynter all failed.

In other news, Exeter midfielder Liam Sercombe has said that reports of him joining Pompey are "way off the mark" and he is happy to stay at Exeter to help their promotion push.
