Pompey Draw Bees In Carling Cup

Portsmouth have been drawn at home to League Two side Barnet in the first round of the Carling Cup.

This will only be the second meeting between Pompey and the London side, with the first game ending in a 5-0 win at Underhill in the FA Cup back in 1991. Guy Whittingham bagged a hat-trick on that day with Warren Aspinall and Colin Clarke scoring the other two goals.

The tie will take place on the week beginning August 8th, which will be played after Pompey's opening fixture in the Championship.

Speaking of which, the fixtures for the 2011/2012 season are released at 9am tomorrow. Everyone will be looking for the games against Southampton whilst I expect we'll play West Ham on Boxing Day yet again.

The pre-season tour of the USA has also been confirmed with the team flying out on July 17th to play Charleston Battery, who play in the USL Pro League, on July 27th with another game to precede that before the team return home on July 28th.
