Pompey have secured a one-month loan deal for Brentford central midfielder Toumani Diagarouga.
The 26-year-old earlier tweeted that he was on his way to Fratton Park and the deal was confirmed this evening by Portsmouth. A regular starter under former boss Uwe Rosler, the Frenchman of Malian descent has only played for current Bees manager Mark Warburton once and thus was allowed to leave on loan.
Affectionately known to others as "Toums" or "Dave", Diagarouga is described as an energetic, combative midfielder in a defensive mould. We currently don't have enough of those types of player on the books at the moment, so it's good that Richie Barker has added another to his squad.
In all seriousness, it'll be interesting to see who Barker drops to accomodate Toums for the trip to Scunthorpe. He could drop Nicky Shorey or move him to left back and remove Marcos Painter from the team, although that would be harsh on the latter.
It's more likely that Thery Racon will make way for Pompey's latest recruit and only time will tell if he actually improves the side. It also remains to be seen if the manager signs a creative midfielder to accompany Diagarouga in the centre or possibly another striker given how his options up front are limited at this moment in time.
Welcome to Pompey, Dave.
