Pompey Blow It Again

Portsmouth dropped two points in the race for promotion by conceding yet another late, late equaliser as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Exeter.

The worst thing about this result is that the Pompey fans could see this coming and it has almost becone expected of Paul Cook's side to let late goals in.

Conor Chaplin gave Pompey the lead in the first half with a neatly taken finish from just outside of the box but come the 90th minute and Ollie Watkins managed to evade a couple of challenges to rifle in a late equaliser and break the travelling fans' hearts.

It's a sickener and that is the fourth stoppage time equaliser Pompey have conceded this season which has cost them eight points and therefore a real shot at automatic promotion. That's also the third goal in five games that Paul Cook's men have conceded in 90+ minutes and it's simply not good enough.

This team seem to lack the mental strength and concentration to hold onto a lead, especially away from home and that does not bode well for the next two matches. With Plymouth and Accrington losing it might have been a good night for Portsmouth but now the fans will be angry once again and deservedly so.

You can only imagine the uproar if the same thing were to happen at Stevenage on Saturday...
