Pompey Around The World

The Pompey squad has changed much over the last few months, meaning that Pompey fans have new names to look out for when the international break arrives as well as new nations to follow too.

Here's what happened in the latest round of qualifying:

David James started on the bench as England travelled to Ukraine but found himself playing after 14 minutes when Robert Green was sent off.

He conceded in a 1-0 defeat which wrecked Fabio Capello's 100% qualifying record but the result now means Ukraine are in pole position to finish as group runners-up ahead of Croatia, which would be some sort of revenge after the Euro 2008 qualifying disaster.

Asmir Begovic made a senior appearance for his new country, Bosnia & Herzegovina when he was subbed on in stoppage time. The Bosnians won 2-0 in Estonia and have booked themselves a place in the play-offs.

Tal Ben Haim played the full 90 minutes for Israel in a 3-1 win against Moldova which gives them hope as they lie two points behind second placed Greece with one game to play.

Nadir Belhadj scored in a 3-1 win for Algeria against Rwanda in Africa meaning that his country should qualify for the World Cup barring a disasterous turnaround of results in the final round of qualifying matches next month. Hassan Yebda also made a substitute appearance for the Algerians.
