Pompey Agree Fee For Lauren

It has been revealed that Pompey have agreed a fee for Arsenal right back Lauren. The Cameroon international is also wanted by West Ham but Harry Redknapp has confirmed he is looking to hijack their offer.

"It's a matter of where he wants to go. West Ham are going to have a really hard try for him but so are we." Redknapp said. The Cameroon international has fallen out of favour after a year out with injury and now the tough full back finds himself down the pecking order.

I'd be as delighted as Harry Redknapp if we managed to bring a player of Lauren's quality to Fratton Park. Glen Johnson is only here on loan but either he, or Lauren could play right midfield if needed. This signing would be for the long term and would provide competition for the right back slot this season.

It's now just a case if whether Lauren wants to join up with his old pals Sol Campbell and Kanu and push for Europe or if he wants to join West Ham and face a relegation dogfight.

Let's hope he makes the right choice...
