Pompey Accept Spurs' Crouch Bid

Paul Hart has revealed that Portsmouth have been forced to accept a £10 million bid from Tottenham for Peter Crouch.

Hart revealed that Pompey "had no choice" to accept the bid, £2 million lower than Sunderland's, because of "severe financial restraints" during the transfer window this summer.

I can't understand why Pompey would sell Crouch now rather than hold out for the £12 million they were demanding just a week ago from Sunderland. The only thing I can think of is that we still owe Tottenham some money from previous transfer dealings but if not, I want to know why we've been forced to accept a lower offer.

It's also disheartening to see Redknapp poach yet another one of our players, especially as he doesn't seem to need strikers seeing as he already has Defoe, Keane, Bent and Pavlyuchenko at the club.

Hopefully this week will bring some more positive transfer news, but given our "modest" transfer budget I can't see us being too excited about whoever comes in during the next few weeks.
