Pennant Wants Liverpool Stay

Pompey confirmed on Friday lunchtime that Liverpool had accepted their bid for the former Birmingham and Arsenal right winger but the player has said that he is hoping to remain at Anfield.

"My preference is to stay at Liverpool and I am still hoping to do so," Pennnt has said.

"I do not want to leave. I am happy to compete for my place here.

"I hope that I am given the chance to do so."
