No news is good news

At long last it seems as though the media feeding frenzy around Fratton Park has finished and all the "journalists" have gone home. Shows over guys; Yakubu won't be joining club X, Y or indeed Z, no-one else is going to link up with your beloved Harry Redknapp, and we're not signing anyone else from Zajec's deep knowledge of Eastern European football who you'll be able to make a thinly veiled racist remark about. Unlucky.

It's great that at long last after the complete chaos of the transfer window, we've finally got a time of peace and quiet between matches to concentrate purely on the football. Dejan Stefanovic hinted at it earlier this week about how much easier it is when there's no more speculation and pre-dawn phone calls from the papers, instead now the players can get their heads down and concentrate on what matters - events on the pitch and preparing for the next match.

So what has happened today? John Curtis is a target for Forest, apparently, but other than that we've at long last completely dropped off the radar. Hell, even Mark Lawrenson decided not to mention us in his score predicition for this weekend, instead giving us a comprehensive list on why Spurs will win and neglecting to mention the name of the other team participating. But after so long being forced into the spotlight against our will, I'll happily take that for a little while. It's a vital chance for us to catch our breath, resume focus, and plug on with the league campaign.
