In a statement made to the official site, Mandaric said that he would "like to place on record my thanks to Martin Murphy for all his considerable efforts during his period in the post. Martin only took on the role on a temporary basis for six months and I am grateful to him for staying on in the role. I know I can count on his continued support in the future development of the club, as a local Portsmouth businessman and supporter. "
Fratton Faithful understands from a source close to Mandaric that the Chairman is anxious the club don't get left behind if plans for the 'Phoenix' league progress and a good stadium is a key part of inclusion in the plans. He also wishes to make sure Pompey capitalise on the success of the team and publicity the young players could generate to the club.
He said that his new role will give him "the opportunity to understand closely and at first hand how the club operates, which has not been possible previously due to my business commitments."
It will certainly be interesting to see how long Mandaric remains in his post before someone is brought in. An anouncement on the stadium is now expected in the new year.
