Mornar impresses Redknapp

Tottenham's £7 signing Jermaine Defoe may have grabbed all the pre-match headlines, but it was Mornar, a snip at £200k, who looks every bit as good a deal.

Mornar struggled with injury in last week's dour draw with Wolves, but impressed at Tottenham during the weekend and, along with fellow newbie Lua Lua, was on the scoresheet as Pompey equalised THREE times without reward.

"I have been so impressed with Mornar," said Redknapp. "He came in last week for his debut and did well in the first half before getting cramp in his hamstring but he trained this week and looked dynamite, full of energy and he has a great attitude towards the game. He has got a good touch for a big man and I think he'll do well.
I can't afford to buy Defoe for £7m but we have got good players and they showed that against Spurs."

The financial gap will become big against all reason when Portsmouth host Chelsea in midweek, but for the humble new signings, so far, so good.
