Mills finally leaves to give New Year Cheer

Harry Redknapp has done some work over the festive period by securing a permanent transfer to Coventry for a £250,000 sum. However Redknapp confirmed that this deal would not free up any funds for Pompey's injury ridden squad.

Mills has been a revelation at Coventry, actually finding the net on two occasions in eight appearances - an incredible return for a forward who never settled in at Fratton Park and only scored 10 goals in nearly 2 years for the Blue's.

Mills has not endeared himself to Pompey fans any further by publically declaring how nice it was to actually finally be at a club with 'talented' players. Disillusioned Milan Mandaric managed to give this statement to the official site until he returned to wallow in his own dissapointment:

"We wish Lee all the very best at Coventry and it's unfortunate that things did not work out for him at Fratton Park. Whilst we are largely writing off our investment this move does go some way towards meeting our objective of reducing the wage bill which was imperative in view of the club's debt situation. Clearly it is in our interests to move on those players who are not contributing and who are not in first team contention."
