Izale McLeod has left Portsmouth Football Club by mutual consent with David Connolly signing a one-month deal at the same time.
McLeod may have been Pompey's top scorer with 11 goals this season but if anything that shows just how poor League One is rather than how good the former MK Dons striker is.
He may have been good when he had the ball in the box but his first touch often let him down, he was useless in the air, couldn't hold the ball up to bring others into play and managed to miss twice from the spot.
Add to that a perceived lack of effort and many Pompey fans will be glad to see the back of him despite being far and away the top goalscorer at the club. Expect to see him sign for the Dons again next month.
His replacement is ex-Southampton striker David Connolly, who has been out of work since being released by our neighbours in the summer.
Saints fans convince me that if the 35-year-old can get fit then he will do well for us. His finishing is supposedly "top quality" at this level of football and he'll work hard too.
As a "Scummer" he is already a target for the Pompey boo boys but if he gives his all and manages to score a goal at Swindon tomorrow then I'm sure his past will be forgotten about.
