Massive Milan

After five years of plunging in blood, sweat, tears - not to mention millions of his own money - Milan Mandaric is to be honoured with a nine foot statue outside Fratton Park.

The plan was unveiled in the Milan Mandaric Suite in front of the chairman, director Fred Dineage, close friend George Best, and several hundred fans. The funding will come from fan donations and to be honest, I can't see any struggle to raise the cash.

After taking over in 1999 and saving the club from administration, Mandaric endured a barren three years stuffed with humiliating defeats, poor league finishes and high manager turnover. Now we've found the "dream team" of Harry and Jim, and in my opinion it's only right that a great man who has given so much to the club is honoured in such a way.
