LuaLua Goes Greek

As expected, Lomana LuaLua has sealed his move to Greek side Olympiakos for a reported fee of £2.8 million. The striker has signed a three year contract with the club and will now be playing Champions League football.

I'm a bit disappointed that we've let him go after he had a positive pre-season so now we will never know if he could ever prove his critics wrong after a torrid couple of years of family problems, illness and injury. But his desire to play abroad has obviously meant that Harry was willing to let him go.

Of course, we shouldn't forget what he did for us prior to that. He was instrumental in keeping us up in our first Premiership season and the two goals he scored to finish off the Scummers will never be forgotten. It's just a shame that he could never really build on that.

Still, I'm sure that Harry wouldn't have let him go unless we had a replacement lined up and reports have been linking us with Nicholas Anelka today so we'll see where that leads.

Fratton Faithful wishes LuaLua the best of luck for his new club.
